About Pat’s Place

  • Description & Purpose

Pat's Place is a voluntary, transitional supportive housing program where young adults can reside for up to 24 months as they prepare for a successful transition to sustainable permanent housing. The site offers private bedrooms for up to 12 residents with a shared kitchen, living room, and recreational space. Nutritional meals are prepared on-site by staff and residents.

Pat's Place benefits from a team of 24/7 on-site staff who work in tandem to develop and implement individualized plans with residents that address personal needs and goals, respond to emergencies, facilitate group workshops and activities, and provide general support. Building on established partnerships, Care Managers link residents to needed community services, resources, and opportunities that can further support them while at Pat's Place and beyond. This transformative program is committed to providing an environment of safety, trust, and support between staff, residents, and their peers, ultimately facilitating positive journeys toward independence.

  • Eligibility & Admission

At Pat's Place, we assess eligibility based on three HUD housing categories: 1 (Literally Homeless), 2 (Imminent Risk of Homelessness), and 4 (Fleeing/Attempting to Flee Domestic Violence). For more information on the Four Categories of the Homeless Definition, please visit the link below. To qualify, applicants must be between 18 and 24 years old, experiencing homelessness, and actively employed or seeking employment. This requirement ensures participants have the potential to become self-sufficient upon aging out of the program, as we prioritize long-term stability.

Pete’s Place (drop-in center for youth and young adults located at 310 Mill St. in the City of Poughkeepsie) is the entry point for Pat’s Place, where staff are able to address immediate needs of youth while linking them to appropriate housing and supportive services. Once admitted, residents follow a structured daily routine that includes designated times for waking up, meals, educational activities, vocational training, recreation, employment, and workforce development.
