Dear friends and supporters,
Given the rapidly evolving situation with COVID-19, we want to provide you with some new updates. We are continuously working to assist our homeless guests and our tenant community.
Those who are struggling with housing insecurity are among those who are most susceptible at this time. Regular hand washing, access to clean clothes, flexible work schedules, family supports, and the ability to control and maintain surroundings are all luxuries that many among us do not have.
As workplaces and schools close, paychecks may stop and other expenses may increase. Many of you have reached out to ask how you can help. Please consider making a monetary contribution to support our efforts to feed and house our neighbors. We need to help those in need of rent and bill relief, purchase food and supplies for our homeless guests, and more. Your support helps us focus on these tasks and get help to those most in need. Contributions can be made here: https://secure.givelively.org/donate/hudson-river-housing with “covid-19” entered when asked “Where would you like your donation designated to?”.
With this in mind, please note that we are limiting donations of goods at this time to minimize contact with the virus. We are only accepting donations of cleaning supplies, personal hygiene products, and nonperishable foods. For now, our main offices at 313 Mill Street in Poughkeepsie remain open 8:30am – 4:30pm so we can address emergency needs. Please call ahead if you would like to drop off a donation: (845) 454-5176.
As we interact with our tenant community and the general public, we have taken steps to limit exposure to the virus. We will continue to follow all cleaning and disinfection recommendations put forth by the Centers for Disease Control and will keep our visits to tenant apartments to a minimum by limiting those visits to emergencies only. Any HRH tenants should reach out to their property manager with any questions.
We remain deeply committed to our community, our staff, and those we serve. Please stay healthy and safe during this difficult time.
