Hudson River Housing has led the Middle Main Initiative in Poughkeepsie for 10 years now, working to strengthen and preserve a strong, vibrant, and creative Main Street corridor. This initiative celebrates the many assets of the Poughkeepsie community and employs dynamic strategies to build upon them. One of our of primary goals is to ensure that all residents can thrive here, and to prevent the displacement of long-term residents as our City grows. To do our job better and to serve the needs of our community, we need to have conversations with the people who live in our community. Beginning July 1st, we will be conducting a survey of the Middle Main neighborhood, knocking on over 400 doors and asking residents to complete a short survey about their community.
We have conducted this Community Impact Measurement survey 2 times in the past – 2013 and 2016. The data we collect will be used by Hudson River Housing and will be available to the public. (Personal information will remain confidential.) In addition to helping us with our programming, this survey data will also demonstrate the community’s needs and priorities to our funders, who can provide more resources to help us better serve our community.
If you live in the Middle Main area of Poughkeepsie, look for us to be knocking on your door soon! We look forward to seeing you around the neighborhood.
